Banking for the future: Savings, security and seeds
Local seed banks ensure farmers have access to locally adapted seeds. They also help preserve agricultural biodiversity, which is crucial for plant breeding and the improvement of crop varieties in the future, thereby enhancing our ability to ensure food production under changing climatic conditions. The seed banks are managed by farmers and local communities. This report presents various experiences from local seed banks in different countries in Africa, Asia, and Central America.
